About Us
The East Waterfront Community Association (EWCA) is an association of residents in the East waterfront neighbourhood of the City of Toronto. In 2020, we incorporated as a not-for-profit community volunteer organization. Our boundaries extend from East of Yonge St. to Cherry Street, and from Lake Shore Boulevard East down to the Water's Edge Promenade.
We recognize that this land was originally the traditional territory of many Indigenous nations and became an industrial port over the past century. The location is now undergoing an immense change from an industrial area to an incredible and vibrant residential neighbourhood. We work with condo boards, developers, city agencies, city councillors, Federal and Provincial politicians, Waterfront Toronto, Waterfront BIA, businesses and other residential associations.
Recognizing that there are many ongoing and proposed mixed-use buildings, our aim is to welcome a diverse group of members from different races and cultures to build the East Waterfront into an inclusive, vibrant and safe community for all to work, live and play in.

Our History
The EWCA started when a few passionate and community-oriented residents came together from Pier 27 & Monde in late 2019, soon joined by Artscape, Aqualina & Aquavista. United, we formed a 13-person working group in June 2020 to develop the roadmap for establishing a formal association which was achieved in October 2020.

A First Board consisting of three directors was elected to complete the formalization of the association and set up the foundations for Full Member recruitment to formally commence. A permanent board consisting of five Directors was elected in February 2021. We appreciate the efforts of our founding members David Chan, Michael Bethke, Christopher MacIntyre, Franca Miraglia, Kay Dermatis, Jeany Nham, Clement Zhou, Graeme Parker, Lenka Matuska, William Charnetski, John King, Jessica Lim, Alison Conway, Cheryl Scharelle, Darrell Shelley and Jennifer Ip.
Board of Directors
Our Board, composed of volunteers, is proud to represent EWCA and the interests of its members. The Board of Directors is elected by members and may appoint leadership roles such as President, one or more Vice- Presidents, a Secretary, a Treasurer and other officers as deemed necessary.
